Greece win over Puerto Rico

Vassilis Spanoulis scored 28 points to lead Greece to an 83-80 victory over Puerto Rico on Sunday in the preliminary round of the basketball world championship. Kostas Tsartsaris added 14 points for Greece (2-0) in the game that saw four lead changes and three ties in the fourth quarter alone. Greece defeated China 89-81 on Saturday in Group C.

Australia, Greece barely win at basketball worlds

Greece led 47-37 at halftime, but China, playing without Houston Rockets center Yao Ming who is recovering from surgery on his left foot, got within 81-79 before Greece retook control in the final minutes.
