The target was to hike 50 miles in 20 hours based on Theodore Roosevelt's requirments for Army officers in the early 20th century. By that standard, it would be expected to take a total of 60 hours of walking to hike 150 miles. If a slave were persued by those from whom he/she had escaped, I would imagine that a good deal of hiding and traveling by night and traveling off the roads would have been necessary.
