A runaway slave would have had to walk. The probability that someone would give a ride on a cart to an unknown person is pretty small.

It is 256 kilometers from Sparta to Athens by current reckoning (a little more than 159 miles). According to myth/history it can be run in 36 hours.

Back in my girlhood, President Kennedy encouraged people to participate in 50 mile hikes as part of his program of physical fitness. The target was to hike 50 miles in 20 hours based on Theodore Roosevelt's requirments for Army officers in the early 20th century. By that standard, it would be expected to take a total of 60 hours of walking to hike 150 miles.

If a slave were persued by those from whom he/she had escaped, I would imagine that a good deal of hiding and traveling by night and traveling off the roads would have been necessary.
