Coffee:
The unofficial national drink is coffee. Everybody starts their day with it, have a couple of cups while working and maybe go out in the afternoon with friends to get another one.
Older people drink traditional greek coffee. Young people drink frape (iced cold nescafe), nescafe (hot) and nowdays Espresso and Fredo are very popular when you go to coffee shops. In the office most drink filter coffee or frape.
Tea is not that popular.
Soft drinks:
The usual: Coca Cola, Sprite, Pepsi, Fanta etc, you can find them everywhere and people drink it with their meals
Alcoholic drinks:
Greeks drink lots of wine, usually with dinner or at friend gatherings. When they go out to bars/clubs many drink beer (Heineken and Amstel are the more popular but you get imported beers as well like Stella, Bud etc). Also Tequila, Gin, Vodka, Whiskey (especially during the winter) etc.
The traditional spirits: Ouzo, raki, tsipouro etc are also popular especially with “meze” (snacks like cheese, salad, small sausages, meatballs, fish etc).
So to put them in order
Day drinks: Coffee (by far), Coca Cola, Ouzo (I know it’s alcohol but it’s a day drink with snacks)
Going out/party drinks: Gin, beer, Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey
Going out to dinner: Wine, beer, soft drinks
Home gatherings: wine, beer
I hope this helps.
