elwynceltic asked:

I am in a craft swap with a girl from Greece, and the idea is she sends me items from there and I send her items from America. I've heard from a friend that they don't have Snickers candy bars, and she says that they don't have peanut butter. Aside from these two items, is there anything that people who have been to Greece can suggest sending? Thanks in advance.
I am also looking for anything non-food related too. Such as craft supplies, papers, Sharpies (someone metioned that these are not that common in some countries, but I don't know about Greece.) So basically anything American, that would be rare or expensive over there. And thanks for the headsup about shipping, I'll look into what I can and can't send before packaging everything up.

what about a small box of chocolate chip cookies? they’re not too familiar w/them. or a small box of oreos?? oreos are actually banned in many places in europe but not Greece since they have hydrogenated trans fat.

Basically you can get everything – especially if you are in Athens or major cities – the items you mention are available and chocolate chip cookies are very well known!
Food wise I don’t think there’s anything that you can’t find if you look long enough.

“you are pretty” is not available over there and not needed either.

Of course we have all this stuff… and I really don’t think that there is a country in the world that doesn’t…..
Maybe you can send a CD with music she likes that has just been released and it’s not that huge…some albums don’t come very quickly… otherwise send something that only comes from your hometown…

I haven’t found anywhere in Greece marshmallows, and some other candy Americans eat that looks like a red sponge…

This may sound cold, but, “some” girls in Europe and Asia are told to meet and marry an American guy because Mom and Dad want to come to the USA and set-up a business using their daughter as a “shoe-in.”

Sad but true. So, maybe your friend could use a few name and address of good looking guys she can work on via the Mail.

    Hey… what-ever works.

Reese’s peanut butter cups! An American colleague of mine always brings these back to the office in Greece & they disappear in seconds! And how about sending a book of photographs from where you’re from?

We have both Snickers candy and many many types of peanut butter. Unless she lives in a small village where they don’t get these. But you can’t send them either, it is illegal by european law to import food like that. They will probably keep them at customs (and eat them, lol). There are also marshmallows in the supermarkets and candy shops.
