    Alexander the Great

And, when you ask who are Greece’s enemies… you need to specify the era… Today, Greece’s primary enemy is Turkey…

When it comes to the figure, it’s really hard to decide, but I believe the people portrayed on the pre-euro Greek currency
(drachmas) may be a good hint, as it suggests they’re quite highly regarded in Greece… That would be eg.:

Adamantios Korais (1748-1833) – humanist scholar, the father of Modern Greek literature, whose advocacy of a revived classicism laid the intellectual foundations for the Greek struggle for independence.

Rigas Feraios (Velestinlis) (1757-98) – a forerunner and leading figure of the Greek Enlightenment, as well as a visionary and herald of Balkan liberation from Ottoman rule.

Ioannis Capodistrias (1776-1831) – a leading national and European politician and diplomat who became the first Governor of Greece (1830-31) following the Greek War of Independence (1821-27).

Theodoros Kolokotronis (1770-1843) – prominent Greek patriot in the War of Greek Independence.

George Papanicolaou (1883 – 1962) – physician and anatomist in the U.S. Discoverer of “Pap Smear” or “Papanicolaou Smear”, a test that saved millions of lives of women by early detecting the cancer of the cervix of uterus and other premalignant conditions of the female genital tract.

Personally, I would also add Eleftherios Venizelos (1864-1936) – one of Greece’s most prominent political figures. He was a pioneer in social reform, a renowned diplomat and played a key role in modernising the Greek state and liberating Northern Greece and the Aegean islands.

And of course people like Pericles, Alexander the Great, Platon, Socrates, Archimedes, Aristotle and other key figures of antiquity…

As for the enemies of Greece, it depends, but you can name, throughout history, eg.: Persia, Macedonia (esp. during the reign of Philip II), the Roman Empire, Ottoman Empire, Third Reich, Bulgarians, Albanians, Turks, the Soviet Union (esp. after WWII) and even the USA in a way… It’s all a matter of perspective…

well Luth said it well …
Todays high repsected are already mentioned..
    Ancient are Alexander the Great,Pericles,Hipocrates,Arostoltele,Homer,Leonidas…..etc.

as far as concrned the enemies..
    ancient enemy was persia
Now days enemies can consider (politically) Turkey and Fyrom

But Turkey and Greece are already allies in Nato, and probably soon in EU so,its mostly a “past enemy”
Fyrom is considered an enemy,as long is using a greek name for their country, they have terrority claims in Greece, and constantly trying to steal Greece’s history and cultural inheritance…
